5 Ways to Increase Your Profits

Image
(And One Is Very Easy, Wanna Guess Which One?) There are only 5 ways to increase the money you're earning in your online business. Every method you might think of falls into one of these five categories. And at least one of these methods can put more money in your pocket within the next week – can you guess which one(s)? Get more traffic to your offer Increase the profit you're making on each sale Sell more stuff to your current customers Cut your expenses Make more sales If you do all five, obviously you'll see more money. But some of these take more effort than others, so let's review them one by one: Get more traffic to your offer This is much easier said than done. You can tweak your SEO to rank higher, you can solicit joint ventures and recruit affiliates, you can hit social media and even buy traffic. While all of these can be good, none of them tend to be quick or easy. Increase the profit you're making on each sale You might do this by increasing the

How to DOUBLE Profits in Your Existing Business

Image
Just a side note: What you’re about to discover here can also be used to help others squeeze more profits out of their online businesses, as well. In fact, you could build an entire business out of making other people’s businesses more profit using these simple methods. Before you create new products and new profit streams, it makes good sense to maximize the earnings in your existing business. To show you how this might be done, I’m going to use a membership site as an example. I love memberships because of the continuity of payments you receive. After all, why get paid just once on a sale if you can get paid every month for several months or longer, right? Let’s say you (or your client) have a membership site. Naturally, the first thing you want to look at is increasing your conversions. First, you work on increasing conversions on your squeeze page, to get as many new (free) subscribers as possible. The more subscribers / prospects you have, the more of these you can turn into PAID

News Jacking

How to Inject Your Ideas into a Breaking News Story And Generate Tons of Media Coverage There's a book out with the above title, and I highly recommend you grab a copy. It's only available as a digital download and it's less than 6 bucks at Amazon. I'll try to summarize here in my own words, but this is no substitute for getting the book, reading it and above all using it to generate free publicity for you and your business. News breaks every second of every day, providing you with literally endless opportunities to get your business free publicity. And I don't have to tell you that publicity is worth far, far more than advertising, and yet it costs you NOTHING. If you're in the U.S., does the Donald Trump presidential campaign ring any bells for you? Look at it from a reporter's point of view – they already have the who, what, when and where – what they need is the “why,” and that's where you come in. Journalists need original content, and they need it

Be Yourself, Don't Talk About Yourself

Image
The data is in – if you want people to pay attention to you online, you need to do the following two things: Be your original self. Don't be ordinary, be unusual. Be different. Don't talk about yourself much. Here's what we know: Tweets with uncommon words and phrasing get retweeted 4 to 5 times as much as common tweets. This means if you sound like everyone else and use the same words as everyone else, your message will get lost in the crowd of clones. The more original your style, the more likely people are to pay attention to your content and forward it. (And also remember your content, but we don't have data on that.) And it makes good sense. After all, if you're saying the same things everyone else is saying, why would anyone retweet your stuff? Now then, if you want more followers on Twitter, don't talk about yourself so much. There's a direct correlation to referencing yourself less and having higher follower counts. Not to mention the fact that yo

12.5 PLR Tips from the Pros

Image
The Good, The Bad and the Super Profitable Believe it or not, in online marketing the pros (and we’re defining “pro” as six figures of annual income) use PLR all the time. They just don’t advertise it. (Would you?) Private Label Rights (PLR) is content you can use as you own. You can use it just as it is or modify it. And you get to claim authorship – hence, the name ‘private’ label rights. You’re already familiar with the “bad,” and that refers to the quality of some PLR. Obviously, it pays to buy well researched, well written PLR products. If you have to completely re-write the content, then you might as well have created it from scratch. The good news is, most PLR these days is a higher quality than what we saw in the past. We can thank low sales of lousy PLR for this. Makers of PLR want to make sales, and they realize that the junk just wasn’t selling well – or worse yet, it sold well and then refunded like crazy. Which brings up a good point – always check to see if there is a gu

Create a $300 Training Program in 7 Days

Image
…even if you’re the world’s worst procrastinator. I’ve used this technique to create all sorts of things, from a free bonus I put together and gave away for an affiliate product, all the way up to $1,000 training programs. Creating content and products is a huge obstacle for most marketers because it takes so much time and effort. But what if you had a way to create products – such as expensive training programs – that you could finish in a week? And better still, what if you got paid for them before they were even done? The first key you need is a big, fat, public DEADLINE. If your deadline is public, then you will move heaven and earth to get it done – or at least I hope you will. If you don’t, you’re in for some major public ridicule and embarrassment, not to mention the fact that you are letting people down. The second key here – and this goes hand in hand with the first - is you’re going to sell what you’re selling BEFORE it’s created. You tell people what you’re creating, you te

You Don't Have To Be Super Smart To Succeed Online

Image
The kid who got straight A's in school is probably the most successful person from that class, right? Actually, no. While good grades and a high I.Q. can be helpful, they not only don't guarantee success - they sometimes hamper success. After all, life is not school. And the skills it takes to get great grades don't always transfer over into running a successful online business. Heck, I know people who struggled in high school and never made it to college who are pulling down 6 and 7 figure incomes online. How do they do it? By possessing the following traits... They have the drive to succeed . How you define success will determine exactly what this means to you. Success for you might be making as much money as possible, it might be furthering a cause of yours, or it might be one of a hundred other things. Whatever it is, you've got to have a need to reach this success that you can feel in your bones. It should be your total focus so that your mind is constantly at work

Double Your Traffic with the Same Content

Image
If you’re not repurposing your content, you’re losing traffic. Repurposing is a technique to change either the format of your content or change its target audience. For example, you might convert a blogpost into a video and publish it on YouTube. Or you might turn that blogpost into a series of emails, a podcast or even an infographic. A blogpost on your website will only attract people who are interested in reading content. But when you repurpose it, you reach a new target audience on different channels. Imagine converting your blogpost into a Slideshare presentation, and then getting 50,000 views. It’s entirely possible to do this. And further imagine that at the end of your Slideshare, you had an appropriate and highly relevant offer to join your list. Even if a tiny fraction of people who viewed your presentation joined your list, it could still be 1,000 or more new subscribers for you. You can convert your existing content into: Social Media Snippets Infographics Videos Slides

8 Ways to Beat Writer's/Blogger's Block

Image
I like to write. Heck, to be honest I LOVE to write. Yet sometimes I hate it as well – like when I HAVE to write another newsletter and I'm thinking I just don't know what to say. That's why I like to find ideas that jog me into writing, and I share them with you here. Because I know if I sometimes have trouble writing, then those who aren't that fond of putting words to paper must sometimes prefer to get a root canal than write another article or blog post. So take heart, here are 8 suggestions that should get your typing fingers flying and your blog readers happy they stopped by your site. Be impulsive . If you write on a frequent basis, then there should be a part of your brain that's always on the lookout for ideas, rants, complaints, laughs, etc. When inspiration strikes, WRITE. Yes, right then and there. If you can't, then at least make lots of notes for later, and at the first available chance sit down and type it out. You can always polish it up later. S

How to Achieve Anything in 90 Days…

Image
…that you can’t achieve in a year. What happens when you give yourself a goal to do something in the next year? You procrastinate . “A year? Heck, I think I’ll take a vacation first. I can work on that tomorrow – next week – next month.” You put it off. And put it off. And a year later… you are still exactly where you are right now, today. But if you only give yourself 90 days, you’ve got to take action NOW. Not tomorrow. Not later today. But right now. 5 year plans? Work for almost no one. Things change during a year’s time – what about during 5 years? Everything can change. People function in 90 day chunks. You can’t plan to lose 50 pounds in a year because you’re continually eating the wrong things. Why? Because you think you can always eat right later and exercise later. But you can lose 25 pounds in 90 days. Now you’ve got a deadline that is close, and you’ve got to get busy now. And once you’ve lost those 25 pounds in 90 days, you can lose 25 more in the 90 days after that. Let

Forget Multitasking and Start Doing One Thing Really Well

Image
Yes, you can sing while taking a shower, and you can listen to music while walking and planning your day. But when it comes to the really important stuff, forget multitasking because it's costing you time and money. Let's say you're answering emails while talking on the phone. A great example of multitasking, right? Wrong. In this case you're not doing two things at once – rather, you're alternating your attention between the two tasks. You can't listen to the person on the phone while you're forming your email response. And you can't formulate your thoughts to speak back to the person on the phone while you're reading the next email. So what you end up doing is a little bit of task A, then a little bit of task B, and back and forth. And neither task is done well. The person on the phone can tell you're not listening, and the email response you write misses the mark. This goes for any task that you can't put on autopilot. You can shower, walk

Why One Internet Marketer Makes $20,000 Per Month and the Other One is Flat Broke

Image
I’ll wager that 9 out of 10 people who read this won’t get it. Not really. They’ll say, “Yeah, that’s probably right,” and then they’ll blow it off like they never read it. But the fact is, I’m nearly certain that's why some people crush it online and others never make more than a few hundred bucks here and there. For example, imagine you’ve got some individual who maybe isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. But he doesn’t know that. He thinks he’s unbelievably smart. He thinks his products are radically awesome. He thinks he’s king of the internet and master of his niche. And even though his products are average and ordinary, and even though he’s not all that bright and certainly not clued in on what’s happening, he still does really, really well. Then you’ve got this other person who is smart as can be. She really cares about her customers and wants to help everybody and anybody she can. She tries her very best to put out products that can revolutionize lives, but she wonders if s

The Secret to Online Business Success: Ignore 95% of Your Possible Marketplace

Image
A friend of mine works with brand new marketers on setting up and building their business. Can you guess the number one problem these new marketers make for themselves? They want to target EVERYBODY… EVERYBODY who has a kid. EVERYBODY who wants a date. EVERYBODY who wants to make money. EVERYBODY who wants to lose weight. My friend has to go around and around with them to convince them of one simple, powerful fact:   The more you specialize, the more you sell.   Think of a general practitioner doctor versus a brain surgeon – who do you think makes more? Think of a general contractor versus a contractor specializing in high rise buildings – who do you think makes more? Think of a regular fireman versus one who puts out fires in oil wells – who do you think makes more? Online marketing is no different. You cannot target senior citizens the same way you do twenty-somethings or new mothers or busy executives. That’s why you’ve not only got to pick your niche – making money, health, diet, d

"But… I Don’t Know How!"

Image
“I want to start an online business but I don’t know how.” “I want to start my own blog and list build but I don’t know how.” “I want to create a product but I don’t know how.” I want to [insert whatever it is you want to do] but I don’t know how.” Well guess what… neither did every single person who did it for the first time. But you’re got to take the leap anyway, and take it on faith that you will land on your feet. Figuring things out on the fly is a learned skill. And the more often you take the leap – any leap – without knowing exactly where you’re going to land, the better you get at it. Plus, each time makes you better equipped to leap again and again and again. Learning to operate at a high level within unknown scenarios is more valuable than learning a specific set of skills for a specific situation. Prepare yourself mentally for being unprepared.  You can never anticipate the exact skills you will need until you need them. In fact, you don’t know what you don’t know until yo

Your (Second) Most Powerful Business Marketing Strategy?

Image
Regardless of what niche you are in, there is no doubt that building a list of prospects and customers who know you, like you and trust you is your most powerful business marketing strategy. So what's the second most powerful business marketing strategy? It's up for debate, but I'd like to suggest the following: Writing a book in your niche to give away to your prospective customers. And no, I don't mean a 20 page report, although that's far better than nothing. Nor am I suggesting you write a “book” that's nothing more than a cleverly disguised sales letter, although those can be useful as well. Let's stand in our prospect's shoes for just a moment. Let's say you live in Chicago and you're looking to invest a substantial amount of money in marketing your brick and mortar business online. Obviously you don't want to hand the work over to just anyone – you want someone who clearly knows exactly what they're doing and can deliver the result

The Two Obstacles to Achieving Success

Image
Forewarned is forearmed, and by knowing in advance what can stop you from realizing your goals, you'll be able to do what's necessary to overcome these obstacles and move straight through to victory. The first obstacle is engaging in limiting beliefs. Need I say more? Well, maybe... If we get what we think about, and we think we don't have what it takes to accomplish something, what happens? We don't accomplish it. If we believe that we don't deserve success, do we get it? Not likely. And if we're always being negative, thinking negative, speaking negative, what happens? Nothing good. We achieve what we believe. Period. Not what we hope for, desire, wish for, etc. There used to be a computer expression – garbage in, garbage out. And it's the same way with your beliefs – bad thoughts in, bad results out. Whatever it takes, whatever you've got to do, find a way to lose the limiting beliefs and replace them with positive, boundless limitless thoughts of suc

Can Virtual Big Gulps Line Your Pockets??

Image
We've all seen the mega launches of super expensive products that boast about how heavy the packing box is. “You Get 32 CD's, 22 DVD's and 3 Big Manuals of 250 Pages Each! This package weighs a whopping 15 pounds, delivered to your door!” As marketers we suspect that bigger is better, even when it's not. After all, more of anything seems like a better deal to the customer than less of something, right? But thanks to a new study, we now know that “more” of a product not only sounds better – it can also be a status symbol for the customer. Take for example the Big Gulp drink – 30 oz of sticky sweet carbonated beverage. Does anyone on the planet NEED 30 oz of sticky sweet carbonated beverage? While some might say they do, the fact is it's a flood of empty calories with a bevy of negative health effects, yet they sell like gangbusters. And believe it or not, they can actually make the purchasers feel BETTER about themselves. No, I am NOT advocating you run out and buy o

Build a Strong Mailing List in 30 Minutes

Image
Okay, so I spoke in an earlier article on the importance of having a list. Not that it's good to have, but that you MUST have a list if you want to achieve long term success online. I've noticed the thing that really stymies a lot of would-be marketers is how to set up this whole funnel thing that gets you the list. Because it has to be really elaborate and it takes a lot of time and work to get it all set up, right? Wrong. Too many people are over complicating it. Here's what you're going to do, and hang with me so you don't get lost... First, you're going to create a squeeze page. Second, you're going to grab your autoresponder code and add it to your squeeze page. That's it. Seriously. Building your list really is this easy. “But I don't know what to put on the squeeze page!” That's easy – a great headline and 3 to five short, snappy bullet points. “But I don't have a free gift to give them for subscribing.” Seriously? There are PLR produc

5 Keys to a Money Making Online Business

Image
We're always trying to over complicate things, aren't we? Making things appear more difficult than they really are. Why is that? The other day I saw a breakdown of the 7 things you need to build your online marketing business, which was 2 more than you really need. Here's my list: Network, List Build, Focus, Take Action, Produce. That's right, just 5 things. So let's break each one down to its simplest form: Network . Make friends with other marketers in your niche, whatever that niche might be. When you need help (such as promotion) call on them. Help them out when they need it. Why is networking so important? 3 reasons: First, working from home can be lonely, daunting, and just plain difficult. It's easy to procrastinate. It's easy to get bogged down on some little obstacle. But when you've got others to turn to for morale support, it gets a whole lot easier. Second, you can get quick help. Having trouble loading that widget or formatting that ebook? C

27 Tips To Strengthen Your Online Influence

Image
How do you influence others over the Internet? Whether you want to change a mind or make a sale, the better you are at influencing, the more you'll get what it is that you want. With that in mind here are 27 tips in no particular order to strengthen your own online influence and get more of what you seek. Pick one niche and become the master of that niche . The thinner you spread yourself, the less influence you have. That's why you want to thoroughly cover one niche rather than haphazardly trying to cover several of them. Get out of your own online world and into new communities . We tend to get stuck in a rut of our own making, and we view the world from that one perspective that we've chosen. But if you're going to influence others, you need to hang out with them, experience their world and see what makes them tick. Build long term relationships . The longer and better you know someone, the more influence you have in that relationship. Work on making your customers s
